Company History

The Teavana story begins long ago...an idea was born where people could enjoy tea, Part Tea Bar, Part Tea Emporium. We wanted people to be comfortable with the sight and smell of loose leaf teas. We also wanted to educate and enlighten people about the differences and history of teas. After much research, supply and taste development, the first teahouse opened its doors in November of 1997 in Atlanta. Today there are fifteen stores and growing! The Teavana name was developed as meaning "a heaven of tea." And so, the fairy tale of East meets West is celebrated by the positive reception of our stores, and further by the excitement of the Teavana experience.
